What did we find?
A run-down portfolio of restaurants at prime locations, with capex backlogs, payment issues and a seriously troubled relationship between franchisor, the restaurants and headquarters. Despite these issues the prime locations of the restaurants, the iconic BurgerKing brand, the high-quality product offering convinced us of the potential to grow the business. This was backed by strong initiatives to grow the brand by the franchisor and the passionate people working in the restaurants the potential to grow the business again was enormous.

What have we achieved?
By building an effective relationship between franchisor, the restaurants and headquarters we were able to stabilize the company which now serves as platform for new growth initiatives. The successful refurbishment of run-down restaurants, the motivation and commitment of the employees, a more effective marketing agenda, the introduction of home delivery and self-service kiosks have all positively impacted the number of guests. Guest satisfaction also increased and the company’s top-line and profitability has gone up. Overall improvement of guest satisfaction remains the main goal for the years to come.

With a total of 25 Burger King restaurants Burger Food Group operates the largest Burger King platform in the Netherlands, including prime locations like Schiphol as well as all Amsterdam and Rotterdam inner-city locations. These restaurants are managed from an Amsterdam-based headquarters. In total, Burger Food Group proudly provides employment to over 1,000 enthusiastic employees.
